When you join our team as Manager, Sustainability, you will lead our sustainability
initiatives and drive sustainable practices throughout our organization. We are committed to integrating
sustainable principles into our operations and decision-making processes and we are looking for a dynamic and expeirence Sustainability Manager to lead that.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop and implement sustainability strategies and initiatives aligned with the company’s values, goals, and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead internal engagement to build awareness and understanding of sustainability, including how initiatives directly contribute to the company’s market value, employee and customer satisfaction, and operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with various departments and internal stakeholders to lead initiatives in support of a diverse and inclusive workplace and reduced emissions, waste, and water consumption.
  • Coordinate ESG (Environment, Social, and Governance) reporting and disclosure processes, ensuring compliance with relevant standards including activities related to updating Interfor’s annual Sustainability Report.
  • Support the ongoing review of Interfor’s policies and processes to help identify gaps and ensure alignment with best practices.
  • Conduct ESG risk assessments, identify areas for improvement and engage with advisory and analytics services where required.
  • Monitor and report on ESG performance, including key performance indicators (KPIs) and benchmarks.
  • Stay informed about emerging sustainability trends, best practices, and regulations to inform strategy development and ensure compliance.
  • Guide the organization, where applicable, in identifying and pursuing investment opportunities that yield both sustainability and financial returns, reinforcing the link between sustainability and business value.
  • Engage with external stakeholders to promote awareness and understanding of ESG issues and strategy.

What You Offer

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in environmental science/management, sustainability, business administration, or related area of specialization.
  • Proven experience, 5+ years, in sustainability management, environmental consulting, corporate responsibility, or related field.
  • Strong understanding of ESG principles, frameworks, disclosure requirements, and reporting standards.
  • Familiarity with relevant environmental regulations, reporting requirements, and certification programs is preferred.
  • Strong business acumen with an understanding of how sustainability impacts financial performance and market positioning, including experience in measuring and articulating return on investment (ROI) for sustainability initiatives.
  • Experience working for a company that operates in both the United States and Canada is an asset.
  • Ability to travel within the United States and Canada is required.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
  • Effective communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Strategic thinking with the ability to assess opportunities, risks, and understand cost benefit analysis.
  • Detail and results oriented.
  • Ability to work independently, with direction and guidance.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of management and external parties.
  • Skills in managing projects from inception to completion, coordinating cross-functional teams to achieve sustainability goals and communicate their value.
