Benefits Manager, Peachtree City, Georgia
When you join our team as a Benefits Manager, you will play a pivotal role in administering U.S.-based employee benefits programs,
including health, welfare, and retirement plans. Reporting to the Manager,
Retirement Plans & Benefits, this role requires deep technical expertise in
U.S. benefits administration, regulatory compliance, exceptional customer
service and vendor management. Additionally, the Program Manager, US Benefits
serves as a mentor to other team members, providing guidance, training, and
support to help enhance the effectiveness of the overall department. This
position ensures that benefit programs are effectively administered, compliant
with federal and state regulations, and deliver cost-effective solutions as
part of our broader total rewards programs.
What You’ll Do
- Benefits Administration
- Administer U.S. health, welfare, and retirement programs, including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, and 401(k) plans.
- Process enrollments, terminations, and plan changes, ensuring timely and accurate data flow between HR, payroll, and benefit vendors.
- Serve as the subject matter expert on day-to-day benefits administration, handling complex inquiries and issues that require specialized knowledge.
- Compliance and Regulatory Adherence
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of U.S. benefits regulations, including ERISA, ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA, IRS, and DOL requirements.
- Ensure all benefit programs adhere to legal and regulatory standards and take the lead with audits and compliance filings, including Form 5500 filings for health and retirement plans.
- Monitor and analyze changes in federal and state legislation to maintain compliant benefits practices.
- Vendor and Relationship Management
- Proactively manage relationships with U.S. benefit providers, ensuring vendors deliver services effectively and meet contract terms.
- Participate in vendor performance reviews and assist in evaluating service level agreements to drive continuous improvement in service delivery.
- Coordinate with vendors to address employee claims issues and escalate complex cases when needed.
- Employee Support and Communication
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding U.S. benefit offerings, eligibility, and claim issues, providing prompt and accurate information.
- Collaborate with HR and Communications teams to develop and deliver clear, engaging benefits communication materials for employees, especially during open enrollment.
- Conduct benefits orientations and presentations to educate employees on their options and encourage program engagement.
- Data Management and Reporting
- Ensure the accuracy and integrity of benefits data in HRIS and related systems, supporting payroll and reporting requirements.
- Generate regular and ad hoc reports to track benefits utilization, program costs, and employee participation rates, providing insights for program evaluation.
- Assist with open enrollment planning and implementation, including testing system changes, data audits, and employee communications.
- Benefits Analysis and Process Improvement
- Analyze U.S. benefits program effectiveness, researching trends and best practices to inform potential enhancements or cost-saving opportunities.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements to streamline benefits administration and improve the employee experience.
- Partner with the Manager, Retirement Plans & Benefits to assess employee feedback, market trends, and benchmarking data to enhance program offerings.
- Mentorship and Team Support
- Provide mentorship, training, and guidance to other benefits team members, supporting their professional development and technical expertise.
- Lead by example in best practices for benefits administration, compliance, and customer service, ensuring a consistent and high standard across the team.
- Assist in onboarding new HR team members, providing comprehensive training on U.S. benefits programs and processes.
What You Offer
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 5+ years of progressive experience in U.S. benefits administration with a strong understanding of health, welfare, and retirement plans.
- In-depth knowledge of U.S. benefits regulations, including ERISA, COBRA, ACA, HIPAA, FMLA, IRS, and DOL requirements.
- Proficiency in HRIS and benefits systems; experience with ADP or similar systems preferred.
- Advanced Excel skills with the ability to analyze benefits data and support decision-making processes.
- Deep knowledge of U.S. benefits regulations, plan administration, and compliance.
- Skilled at working collaboratively with HR operations teams to ensure seamless integration of benefits processes and data accuracy across HR functions.
- Effective in managing vendor relationships, ensuring service quality, negotiating agreements, and addressing issues promptly to maintain high service standards for employees.
- Ability to analyze issues, develop solutions, and effectively manage complex cases and data accuracy challenges.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to support employee education and ensure understanding of benefits programs.
- Strong analytical skills to evaluate benefits data, track program utilization, and identify areas for improvement.
- A responsive, service-oriented approach to supporting employees and resolving benefits-related inquiries.
