General Labourer (Heavy Equipment Operator), Val-d’Or, Quebec

When you join our team as a General Labourer (Heavy Equipment Operator),
your keen eye for detail will keep the yard and the mill clean and tidy.
Working in a sawmill, you’ll discover that they do more than just process
forest products, they also transform our communities. What’s more, you’ll be
responsible for operating really big machines, unloading trucks of round wood,
transporting lumber, and feeding the mill from the lumber yard.

What you’ll do

  • Clean up when debarking, sawing or planing, inside
    and out;
  • Tie bundles of rough lumber for outdoor drying;
  • Rework and stack bundles of rough lumber and planed
    lumber in the yard;
  • Clean yard and plant;
  • Clean inaccessible areas during work stoppages;
  • Replace operating stations during rotation breaks;
  • Feed transfers of 10-foot logs, unbarked and
    barked, to the bucking mill, using available machinery;
  • Unload roundwood trucks;
  • Feed the mill by transporting wood from the yard
    to the mill;
  • Empty reject bins and sort logs according to our
    quality standards;
  • Feed and unload incoming and outgoing kilns;
  • Empty the sawmill of sawn lumber;
  • Empty the planing mill of finished products and
    deposit them in the yard;
  • Teamwork with other heavy equipment operators;
  • Level the yard;
  • Perform all other related tasks.

What you’ll offer

  • Favorable evaluation of essential skills and
    abilities for the position;
  • Minimum 6 months’ experience as a heavy equipment
    operator (loader, mobile shovel, forklift, etc.).
  • Working conditions
  • Salary between $26.43 and $27.43/hour;
  • Monday to Friday (8h/day) or Monday to Thursday
    (10h/day);
  • Probation period of 450 hours worked;
  • Group insurance (eligible after probation is
    completed);
  • Pension fund with employer contribution
    (eligible after probation).
