Accounts Payable Specialist

Accounts Payable Specialist, Peachtree City, Georgia

When you join our team as a Accounts Payable Specialist, you will be responsible for two
primary areas of responsibility: processing accounts payable invoices and
providing support to accounting and/or administrative staff. This role is a 1 year contract and is hybrid with 3 days in the office and 2 days working from home.

What You’ll Do

  • Ensure that purchase orders have been properly approved
  • Match and process vendor’s invoices with authorizing documents (purchase orders and receiving document)
  • Verify that check requisitions are properly approved prior to processing and communicate required changes to the appropriate person
  • Verify all invoice extensions and totals, calculate discounts and sales tax where applicable, and input vouchers for payment within stated terms
  • Assess sales and use taxes on invoices where applicable
  • Review invoices and check requests for proper general ledger account coding
  • Prepare check requests for approval and processing
  • Maintain organized electronic files for invoices that have been processed
  • Assist in submitting vendor maintenance requests online
  • Review vendor statements and communicate discrepancies to the vendor
  • Verify employee expense reimbursement forms for proper documentation, approvals and coding
  • Vendor database maintenance
  • AP payment processing
  • Research and answer AP-related inquiries for internal and external parties
  • Backup to other AP staff as required
  • Assist in any other areas as needed

What You Offer

  • Equivalent education level required – High school graduate; post-secondary education preferred
  • Minimum 3-5 years of data entry and/or accounts payable experience is required
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • Basic bookkeeping and accounting knowledge
  • Knowledge of Oracle is considered an asset but not mandatory
  • Knowledge of accounts payable and general accounting practices and procedures
  • Proficient in data entry
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to multi-task, deal with numerous interruptions, and meet multiple demands
  • Able to communicate clear and concise information verbally and in writing in an accurate, informative, and professional manner
  • Maintain open, ongoing, and effective communication with team members, and internal and external parties
  • Problem analysis and solving skills
  • Maintain confidentiality
