Interfor is seeking energetic and enthusiastic team players to
join our team as a Sawmill Technician (Edger) in Bay Springs, Georgia. Starting rate for this position is $23.77 per hour with the potential to grow to $25.77 per hour based on skill level and experience.

What You’ll Do

  • Responsible for the safe and productive operation of the edger in order to straighten/trim edges of rough lumber and saw lumber into boards of required widths.
  • Start transfer chains to move lumber and scans board as it passes by to determine cut that will guarantee maximum productivity, quality, and grade.
  • Responsible for immediately identifying all causes of downtime and help resolve the problem to get the system going as soon as possible.
  • Responsible for clearing all cross-ups (hang-ups) and jams at edger and edger outfeed.
  • Clean the scanner frame daily.
  • Maintain all housekeeping standards while maintaining a clean and organized work area.
  • Responsible for inspecting, greasing and servicing equipment, and other preventative maintenance daily or as directed.
  • Operate chainsaw/sawzall as needed to clear hang-ups.
  • Change saws and guides at the edger at the end of every shift
  • Complete downtime sheets daily.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations especially applicable to lockout/tag-out.
  • Perform any other work-related task deemed necessary by the supervisor.
