Purchasing Supervisor, Nairn Centre, Ontario
When you join our team as a Purchasing Supervisor, reporting to the Regional
Purchaser, Eastern operations, you will be responsible for planning and
procurement to ensure inventory efficiency at our various Ontario sawmills. You will
co-ordinate the flow of information between the unit and vendors to meet
the mill’s product and/or service needs. To carry out your
mandate, you will be responsible for a team member who will assist you for
tasks and activities related to the shipment and receipt of material and equipment.
What You’ll Do
- Supervise, manage, and direct the work of employees under his responsibility.
- Support team members and ensure their professional development and skill level.
- Develop and maintain robust relationships with vendors and contractors to better meet product/service needs.
- Identify vendors of materials, equipment, services, and supplies, and determine product availability, prices, and terms of service and/or product.
- Make purchases and co-ordinate procurement, in accordance with the contracts in force, per operational needs.
- Generate and receive purchase orders, perform pickup and stocking, and perform cycle counts.
- Manage procurement and inventory logistics in compliance with the scheduling principles and corporate guidelines.
- Ensure the integrity of inventory data, including changing part numbers and updating vendor documentation in the system.
- Maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure sound procurement management.
- Handle special orders and co-ordinate customs processes along with shipping by air, sea or land, as needed.
- Generate and submit various reports for weekly cost reviews.
- Perform any other duty related to the position.
What You Offer
- Professional or college diploma in purchasing, logistics, or administration, or the equivalent.
- Relevant experience in a similar position.
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite and knowledge of Purchasing management Systems.
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiating, and communication skills.
- Attentive to detail, analytical in nature and result oriented.
- Ability to adapt and organize workflow in a very busy environment.
- Self-starter and able to work with minimal supervision.
