Operations Planning Forester, Ear Falls, Ontario

When you join our team as a Operations Planning Forester, you will lead the short and long-term operational planning objectives and support sustainable implementation of our operations.

What You’ll Do

  • Maintain the highest safety standards by leading by example and ensuring that the team and contractors follow all polices, procedures, practices, and regulations.
  • Lead the operational planning program for the Ear Falls wood supply areas.
  • Monitor weekly contractor production vs. annual operating budgets and update forecasts.
  • Assist the Ear Falls Woodlands team with implementation of a fluid and sustainable harvest and delivery plan.
  • Assist the Woodlands Manager in developing and implementing annual operating budgets.
  • Coordinate with assistance from the Ear Falls Woodlands team the implementation of the Health and Safety Program and Environmental Management System (Safe Workplace Ontario / Sustainable Forestry Initiative).
  • Manage the Forest Operations Information Program (FOIP).
  • All other duties as assigned to support the implementation of forest management planning and operational activities for the Ear Falls Woodlands team.

What You Offer

  • Recognized University Degree in the Field of Forestry / Environmental Management.
  • Have acquired a minimum of 5 years of experience related to the aspects of Forest Managemen, Planning, and implementation of Harvesting activities.
  • Be experienced in the use of Microsoft Office, ArcMap GIS, GPS technology.
  • Ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather and terrain conditions.
  • Have an Ontario Driver’s License in good standing.
  • Possess, or be eligible to obtain Ontario Registered Professional Forester (RPF) designation.
  • Certified FOIP Inspector designation (preferred).
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and in a team environment.
  • Possess excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
  • Must be result driven and be able to bring forward solutions to overcome challenges.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to learn, possess a positive attitude, and be able to produce positive results with clients, contractors, and government authorities.
  • Possess leadership skills and be motivated to produce high-quality deliverable products.
  • Be flexible and adaptable to a variety of work environments and schedules.
