Planer Set Up, Belk, Alabama
Interfor is seeking energetic and enthusiastic team players to join our team as a Planer Set Up in Belk, Alabama. Starting rate for this position is $24.40 per hour with the potentail to grow.
- Observe all procedures specified in the job safety analysis to prevent any injuries.
- All setup on planer, making sure all quality standards are maintained.
- Maintain all housekeeping standards while keeping entire work area clean.
- Responsible for the safe and productive operation of the planer machine equipment.
- Responsible for the set-up of the planer, ensuring all quality standards are maintained.
- Ability to recognize problems and to effectively communicate them clearly so they can be corrected immediately, through verbal communication, checklist, and work orders.
- Ensure all maintenance of the planer machine is in good working order so up time can be maintained.
- Responsible for general preventative maintenance of the planer including lubrication, knives etc.
- Quality Expectations- There must be a higher standard in order to ensure we are producing a product of the highest quality possible. This will include basic day to day procedures which are very important to the overall value and customer satisfaction of the product we produce.
- Proper planer cuts to minimize skip dressing.
- The best finish we can provide to the lumber, address all wavy dressing ASAP.
- Proper grader decisions to maximize all grade recovery opportunities.(Learn grade rules).
- Good trimming; keep saws sharp and working properly, make sure all limit switch wands are in line with saws to avoid any trimming errors.
- Perform any other task deemed necessary by the superintendent/crewleader.
- Physical Requirements: Walking, Stairs, Bending and Lifting (Up to 50 lbs).
What You Offer
- Knowledge of planer setter operation.
- 2-3 years in lumber operations.
- High School education or GED equivalent preferred.
