Maintenance Planner, Bay Springs, Mississippi
When you join our team as a Maintenance Planner, you will be responsible for coordinating the
efficient planning, scheduling, and execution of maintenance activities by
applying best practice planning techniques in a team environment.
What You’ll Do
- Plan, schedule and coordinate Maintenance activities.
- Effectively manage the
work management system to minimize interruptions to the continuous
operation of the sawmill, planer mill, boiler and kilns. - Maximize tradesperson
efficiency and effectiveness through increased productivity and work
quality. - Ensure that the
Maintenance group provides prompt, efficient and quality-centered service
to the production department. - Provide effective
leadership through continued and frequent interaction with Maintenance
tradespeople. - Manage, understand and
work within departmental spending and budgets. - As the Maintenance Planner you will receive work
requests and work orders through CMMS that require planning. - Develops scope of
work, and inspect job location to determine job requirements. - Arrange for
special tools, equipment, and kitting of parts to support efficient
execution of job plans. - Coordinate with
other Mill Management, Project Engineers, and Contractors on impacted
systems and the need to produce engineering documents and to identify the
required technical specification standards to be used for various - repair/installation elements.
- Use current
industry standards or location-specific data for estimating work; develop
clear and concise work steps and estimated job duration and craft
requirements. - Develop a variety
of data sets and analytical processes to monitor and improve maintenance
department efficiency, identify sources of cost savings, proactively
anticipate maintenance requirements before failure occurs, etc. - Prepare field
measurements for materials take-offs and develop required Bill of
Materials. - Input required
purchase requisitions for labor and materials. - Develop total job
cost estimate. - Maintain liaison
with field supervision and other management regarding work execution,
necessity of altering schedules, and manpower status. - Establish
tentative scheduling dates based upon job priority and material/equipment
availability. - Plan weekly
schedule of work by allocating maintenance manpower or contractors in coordination
with Maintenance Supervision with established priorities. - Develop, modify
and update both preventive and predictive pm’s. - Issue scope of
work and bid documents to contractors as required. - Maintain the
integrity of the CMMS data and equipment entity records.
What You’ll Offer
- Mechanical aptitude and knowledge of equipment maintenance practices, preferably within the lumber industry.
- 3 years experience in maintenance planning and
scheduling in a manufacturing environment or related field. - Continued studies and/ or a post-secondary
technical degree or a relevant professional designation is an asset. - Experience in the use of computerized maintenance
management systems preferred. - Working
knowledge of effective preventative / predictive maintenance methodologies
and processes. - Intermediate Microsoft
Office skills; Word and Excel are required. - Strong organizational skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
and ability to work effectively in a highly interactive / energetic team
environment. - Must have the ability to lead a team and fill in for
the supervisor on a relief basis. - Detail and results oriented.
- Ability to function under pressure.
- Ability to think analytically.
- Ability to plan, organize and prioritize numerous
tasks with conflicting deadlines. - Proficient in all Windows Microsoft office
application. - Must be able and
willing to work in a manufacturing plant environment, including extended
periods of time in noisy, non-air conditioned or unheated areas. - Must be able and
willing to work safely, including wearing and using appropriate personal
protective equipment (PPE).
