Maintenance Planner

Maintenance Planner, Molalla, Oregon

When you join our team as a Maintenance Planner, you will coordinate the efficient planning, scheduling, and execution of maintenance activities by applying best practice planning techniques in a team environment.

What You’ll Do

  • Plan, schedule and coordinate Maintenance activities with active participation of the maintenance team.
  • Effectively manage the work management system to minimize interruptions to the scheduled operation of the sawmill and planer mill.
  • Provide effective leadership and through continued and frequent interaction with Maintenance tradespeople.
  • Use CMMS to manage maintenance department scheduled work and key performance indicators (KPI’s) weekly and monthly measures.
  • Develop scope of work in coordination with the requester and inspect job location to determine job requirements.
  • Arrange for special tools, equipment, and kitting of parts to support efficient execution of job plans.
  • Coordinate with other Mill Management, Project Engineers, and Designers on impacted systems and the need to produce engineering documents and to identify the required technical specification standards to be used for various repair/installation elements.
  • Support and help implement maintenance best practices as outlined in the Interfor Maintenance Playbook.
  • Work in coordination with the storeroom processes and personnel to ensure critical spares inventory levels and job kitting requirements are met.
  • Develop total job cost estimates.
  • Establish tentative scheduling dates based upon job priority and material/equipment availability.
  • Plan weekly schedule of work by allocating maintenance manpower or contractors in coordination with Maintenance and Operations Leadership with established priorities.
  • Assist in providing supervision of maintenance personnel and job execution as needed.

What You Offer

  • Mechanical aptitude and knowledge of equipment maintenance practices, preferably within the lumber industry.
  • Prior experience with maintenance planning and scheduling is preferred.
  • Post-secondary technical degree or a relevant professional designation is preferred.
  • Experience in the use of computerized maintenance management systems (EAM) preferred.
  • Working knowledge of effective preventative/predictive maintenance methodologies and processes.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills with strong business acumen.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work safely and effectively in a highly interactive/energetic team environment.
  • Detail and results oriented.
  • Ability to function under pressure.
  • Ability to think analytically, tactically, and strategically.
  • Ability to plan, organize and prioritize numerous tasks with conflicting deadlines.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills: Word and Excel.
