Maintenance Lead Hand, Ear Falls, Ontario
When you join our team as a Maintenance Lead Hand, you
will lead the maintenance team in the repair, maintenance and adjusting of
equipment and machinery in the sawmill. Working in a sawmill, you’ll discover
that they do more than transform forest products, they also transform our
communities.
What You’ll Do
- Maintain a strong focus and contribute to the improvement of safety.
- Participate in safety related activities including but not limited to; housekeeping tours, on the job training, lockout compliance/verification, safety auditing/permitting, etc.
- Fully understand the machinery, equipment, and work procedures for the jobs/tasks.
- Hold self and others accountable regarding safety, quality, and productivity.
- Participate in all work unit activities, meetings, etc.
- Open communication and collaboration with maintenance management team members, production management team members, and fellow unionized coworkers.
- Distribute work orders to the appropriate employee and ensure the work is completed in a timely and safe matter.
- Take on Supervisor responsibilities for health and safety purposes when no supervisor of maintenance is present.
- Work closely with the Maintenance Supervisor to ensure daily maintenance activities are achieved.
- Complete all work duties required within Certified Trades capability
What You Offer
- College diploma in industrial mechanics or vocational diploma in industrial maintenance (equivalent experience could also do the trick);
- Minimum of two years’ experience in industrial equipment maintenance (especially in the sawmill industry);
- Certified trade certificate/ticket Red Seal in Industrial Electrical or Industrial Mechanical fields;
- The necessary toolkit for this job;
- Be familiar with Occupational Health and Safety legislation;
- Efficient and organized;
- Analytical and concerned about the quality of work performed;
- Demonstrate collaborative spirit and initiative, ability to work in teams;
- Respect of safety standards.

- Carpooling Program: $15 per person transported to and from the mill per shift. (For those employees who are traveling from 50km or greater to work).
- Financial Assistance Measure (for those employees who are traveling from 50km or greater to work) $10 per day worked when the price of gasoline is between $1.50 and $1.75/litre or $25 per day worked when the price of gasoline is more than $1.75/litre.
- Rate of Pay: $48.69 / hr (+$1.00/hr night shift premium).
