When you join our team as a Planning Forester, you will be a key part of the Woodlands team
responsible for all aspects of forest development planning. Our foresters can
balance a mix of field and office work and require a strong commitment to
safety and the environment.

What You’ll Do

  • Work with a team of Forest
    Professionals, consultants, stakeholders and other professionals, to
    provide guidance on meeting Higher Level Planning requirements for the
    Interfor tenures that supply the Adams Lake sawmill.
  • Manage Forest Stewardship Plans;
    meet the objectives of Higher-Level plans & provide guidance on
    managing a wide variety of resource obligations.
  • Actively participate in
    divisional safety, EMS and production targets.
  • Review and prepare Site plans, Logging
    plans and Road Site plans consistent with our Forest Stewardship Plans and
    other legislative requirements.

What You Offer

  • An independent work ethic with
    the ability to work individually or in a highly interactive/energetic team
    environment.
  • Excellent Interpersonal and
    Communication Skills
  • A Registered Professional Forester
    or be eligible to register with the Forest Professionals of BC.
  • Experience in higher level
    planning and all aspects of forest management.
  • Working knowledge of FRPA;
    familiarity with FSP, Site Plan and Road Site Plan content requirements.
  • Familiarity with forestry
    applications like LIMS, LRM, Forest Ops, and the ability to learn new
    software programs.
  • Ability to develop and maintain
    effective relationships with government agencies, contractors, suppliers,
    First Nations and other stakeholders.
  • A background in road and cutblock
    layout, surveying, and timber cruising are benefits.
  • A working knowledge of harvesting
    methods, including cable and tether systems are strong assets.
  • Dependable and high level of
    physical fitness.
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license.

that the company believes in good faith could be offered to successful
candidates. The salary offered is benchmarked to current market conditions and
will also be based on numerous factors which can include work experience,
skills, credentials, education, and other relevant factors. In addition to a
competitive salary, you will receive a competitive benefits package and be able
to participate in our Short-Term Incentive Bonus plan, with the payout amount

About
Chase and the Shuswap

The
successful candidate can reside anywhere in the Shuswap Region or in one of the
surrounding communities. Our staff primarily live in the communities of Chase,
the North Shuswap, Sorrento, Salmon Arm and Kamloops.
Our woodlands
office is located at the sawmill site on the southwest shore of Adams Lake. The
resort communities of Sun Peaks, and Shuswap Lake, are surrounded by miles of paddling,
