Planer Supervisor

Planer Supervisor, Swainsboro, Georgia

When you join our team as a Planer Supervisor, you will be responsible for overall operation and performance of the planer mill and will work closely with other areas of the business to optimize the production performance of the operation. This role will be on the night shift.

What You’ll Do

  • Set and communicate direction, while engaging and supporting team members to achieve excellence in all areas.
  • Manage safety of employees through leading by example, operate at the highest standards and conform to all regulations.
  • Ensure the wide range of products meet all quality standards and order specifications throughout the manufacturing process.
  • Oversee planer production, manning, and efficiency.
  • Manage and identify opportunities to improve productivity, reduce cost, and maximize the quality, value, and recovery of lumber produced.
  • Supervise shift production and maintenance activities to ensure compliance with all site protocols (safety, housekeeping, hot work, environmental, etc.).
  • Oversee manufacturing quality, meeting product specifications and customer expectations while maximizing outturns.
  • Manage and direct month end inventory process.
  • Engage production and maintenance workers to achieve targets, meet expectations, and address deficiencies in a productive and professional manner.
  • Ensure quality standards are met throughout the manufacturing process.
  • Engage and support team members to achieve excellence in all areas of the business.
  • Manage and direct month end inventory process.

What You Offer

  • Post-secondary education is preferred.
  • 5 years of sawmill, planer or related experience within lumber manufacturing is preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of lumber manufacturing supervisory experience, preferably in a planer role.
  • Lumber grading certification is an asset.
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills as well as the ability to work effectively in a highly interactive team environment.
  • Detail and results oriented.
  • Ability to function under pressure.
  • Ability to work variety of shifts.
  • Strong computer competency, particularly Microsoft Outlook and Excel.
