Senior Systems Administrator – Infrastructure, Burnaby, British Columbia

When you join our team as a Senior Systems Administrator – Infrastructure, you will focus on systems and server administration with
a strong emphasis on managing and optimizing Azure cloud infrastructure, Office
365, and on prem virtual environments. The Senior System Administrator will
work with other IT Operational Infrastructure team members to respond to
systems and server related escalations, requests and projects as assigned. The
candidate will adopt and foster a team approach to problem-solving, while
interfacing with internal customers and external vendors to ensure efficient
delivery of infrastructure services.

This role will require you to be on-site at our head office based at Metrotown in Burnaby, BC.

What You’ll Do

  • Responsible for system services and servers at the main data centre and all branches.
  • Implement, upgrade and administer all system infrastructure.
  • Design, test, implement and administer servers for deployment of company, OS, applications and updates.
  • Administration and support of Microsoft O365 services.
  • Administration and support of Azure Cloud virtual environment.
  • Administer and support the corporate Citrix environment.
  • Administer and support on prem virtual environments.
  • Administer Linux operating systems.
  • Develop and maintain systems documentation as required.
  • Utilize Corporate Change Management procedures to ensure effective control management.
  • Assist in evaluating/selection of systems hardware and software.
  • Maintain systems and consistency and recoverability thereof.
  • Perform regular system monitoring; verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and processes.
  • Create and manipulate PowerShell scripts.
  • Any and all other assigned duties as determined by management.

What You Offer

  • University degree or diploma in Information Technology or equivalent.
  • 10+ years in a System Administrator role.
  • Industry recognized vendor certifications or experience with: Microsoft Server, Microsoft Hyper-V, Office 365, Azure cloud, VMWare, Veeam, Citrix, backup and recovery software, monitoring tools.
  • Available to work after hours on call in rotation with team.
  • Must be available to work extended hours (non-business) and some travel as required.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a highly interactive and energetic team environment.
  • Project management skills applied to application deployment, upgrading and general change management.
  • Excellent problem management, decision making, and customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of monitoring, predictive, and proactive procedures.
  • Strong trouble-shooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to self-direct and work under timeline pressures.
  • Must be available to work extended hours (non-business) as required.
  • Continual upgrading of industry knowledge through research, formal education and vendor information.
