Mill Accountant

Mill Accountant, DeQuincy, Louisiana

When you join our team as a Mill Accountant, you will be responsible for applying accounting principles and procedures to analyze financial information, preparing accurate and timely financial reports and statements, preparing forecast and budgets and ensuring appropriate accounting control procedures.

What You’ll Do

  • Update and maintain key accounting files involving inventory, operations, and maintenance spending.
  • Responsible for daily operations reporting.
  • Assist Divisional Accountant with journal entries/uploads.
  • Assist Divisional Accountant with forecasting/budgeting.
  • Reconcile and maintain balance sheet accounts and sub-ledgers.
  • Perform monthly analysis on electricity costs.
  • Prepare various surveys, censuses and reports for external organizations.
  • Ensure compliance with existing internal controls.
  • Complete ad hoc financial modeling and analysis as required.
  • Assist Project Manager with capital spending requests including analysis & documentation.
  • Responsible for inventory count process.
  • Perform analysis on repair and maintenance accounts.
  • Assist Divisional Accountant/Regional Controller on special projects.

What You Offer

  • 0-3 Years’ Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance
  • Intermediate Excel skills are required.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft AX is an asset but not mandatory
  • Positive, proactive, detail oriented and driven to succeed
  • Effective organization, planning, implementation and follow-up skills
  • Self-motivated and results-oriented individual who incorporates goal-setting and action-planning to achieve success
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Strong reporting and analytical skills
  • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines
  • Team player with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to adapt in a constantly changing environment
  • Ability to effectively communicate information and clarify requirements
