Assistant Management Forester, Timmins, Ontario

When you join our team as a Assistant Management Forester, you will work under the RPF supervision of Interfor
Management Foresters in the delivery of the forest management program and
preparation of forest management plans for the Pineland, Spanish and Northshore
forests. This is a 1-year contract with the possibility of extension, with a start date on or around May 1, 2025.

What You’ll Do

  • Support the development of Forest Management Plans, Annual Work Schedules, and Annual Reports for the Sustainable Forest Licences.
  • Assist in the preparation of Forest Management Plan Amendments, Annual Work Schedule Revisions and Overlapping Forest Resource Licenses.
  • Prepare Company records and documents for internal and independent audit purposes.
  • Liaise with Indigenous community Lands & Resources departments regarding annual planning, operational prescriptions related to cultural values and over all implementation of forest management plans.
  • Liaise with the Ministry of Natural Resources Districts, tourist operators and other stakeholders in the development and maintenance of forest management plans.
  • Work closely with the InterforNortheastern Ontario operations teams to ensure that forest management plans meet corporate and operational needs.
  • Assist in the administration of the provincial road funding program for the Sustainable Forest Licenses.

What You Offer

  • Ontario Driver’s License in good standing.
  • Recognized University Degree in the Field of Forestry or Natural Environment Management.
  • Possess, or be eligible to obtain Ontario Registered Professional Forester (RPF) designation.
  • Experience related to the aspects of Forest Management Planning, and implementation of harvesting activities is considered an asset.
  • Understanding of the legislative requirements affecting forest management in Ontario.
  • Be experienced in the use of Microsoft Office, ArcMap GIS, GPS technology.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and in a team environment.
  • Possess excellent communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  • Must be result driven and the ability to bring forward solutions to overcome challenges.
  • Be flexible and adaptable to a variety of work environments and schedules.
  • Able to establish and maintain professional relationships based on mutual trust.
  • Goal and result oriented.
  • Organized, proactive and able to manage several projects at the same time.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to learn, a positive attitude, and an ability to produce positive results with both internal and external clients.
  • Strive for best practices and continuous improvement.
