Regional Environmental Specialist (US), Peachtree City, Georgia
When you join our team as a Regional Environmental Specialist (US), you will be responsible for overseeing and supporting
environmental compliance initiatives across our operations in the US South Region.
What You’ll Do
- Serve as the Technical Expert and environmental support for US
southeast operations. - Support in the administration of Federal, State, and local
environmental program requirements, including but not limited to air emissions,
wastewater, storm water, hazardous and solid waste, and SARA regulations. - Support site managers in the development and implementation
of the corporate environmental management system and integration into the
plant’s operational plan. - Conduct environmental audits, assessments, and compliance
evaluations to ensure regulatory adherence and drive continuous improvement. - Analyze incident and compliance trend data and collaborate
with operational departments to address environmental risks and opportunities. - Participate in incident investigations, mitigation efforts,
root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation. - Prepare and coordinate reports submitted to regulatory
agencies, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. - Assess and mitigate employee exposure to environmental
hazards in the workplace. - Stay current with evolving environmental regulations,
technologies, and industry best practices. - Represent facilities during regulatory agency inspections
and act as a liaison with governmental authorities. - Identify and implement cost-effective solutions for
technical and regulatory environmental challenges. - Facilitate knowledge sharing among environmental teams
across Interfor’s operations. - Facilitate training and
education of environmental compliance across the US southeast region
What You Offer
- Bachelor’s degree or technical diploma in Environmental
Science,
- Environmental Management, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in environmental
compliance, preferably - in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity and experience with Federal, State and local environmental
regulations. - Experience with environmental permitting, audits, and
regulatory reporting. - Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work
collaboratively across teams. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to travel within the US South region as needed.
- Preferred: Experience in the forest products, lumber, or
wood panel manufacturing industry. - Preferred: Experience with developing and leading
Environmental - Management Systems and audit frameworks.
