Quality Control Supervisor, Thomaston, Georgia
When you join our team as a Quality Control Supervisor, you will
manage the lumber recovery and grade recovery performances of the site while
ensuring the final product meets Interfor grade specifications and satisfies
customer requirements. The Quality Control Supervisor will work closely with
the management team to improve the profitability of the plant. The QC
Supervisor will manage and control the parameters and set-up of all optimized
equipment.
What You’ll Do
- Maintain the highest standards with respect to safety at all times, leading by example and ensuring employees follow all policies, procedures, practices and regulations.
- Supervise all aspects of the quality control program at the facility.
- Maintain and utilize all production optimization systems to maximize lumber values, grade and recovery.
- Oversee results of daily QC audit and surveys.
- Oversee actions and follow-up on “Out-of-Spec” situations throughout the site.
- Manage Product mix changes and optimization pricing with feedback from sales in monthly meetings.
- Interface with inspectors from local grading agencies when they are on site.
- Identify opportunities to improve lumber and grade recoveries.
- Work closely with production and maintenance staff in resolving quality issues.
What You Offer
- Minimum high school diploma and preferably post-secondary degree in a related field.
- A minimum 3-5 years of experience in Quality Control.
- Understanding of lumber manufacturing principles and processes considered a strong asset.
- Experience in optimization technology.
- Strong computer skillset with a proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Commitment to high Safety and Environmental Standards.
- Detailed practical knowledge of lumber grading rules and practices.
- Strong optimization management skills.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Possess excellent interpersonal, team-building and communication skills.
- Strong trouble-shooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
