Production Supervisor

Production Supervisor, Baxley, Georgia

When you join our team as a Production Supervisor, you will take a leadership role within our Boiler & Kiln department, guiding a skilled team in a highly technical and fast-paced environment. You will be responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of boiler systems and kiln drying processes while fostering a strong safety culture and driving operational excellence.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide direct supervision and leadership of crew members to support a 24/7 Boiler and Kiln drying operation.
  • Lead the continuous improvement initiative efforts in safety, quality, and productivity at the Boiler and Kiln drying operation.
  • Coordinate with maintenance and production personnel at all levels of the site organization to continually strive for operational excellence.
  • Provide support and lead the initiative for planning, scheduling, and execution of Planned and Unplanned Boiler/Kiln outages.
  • Conduct and implement daily system inspections to identify areas of concern and or opportunities in safety, environmental, housekeeping, and proper operations within the department. Report and resolve noncompliance issues immediately.
  • Ensure proper drying and storing operations of in-process lumber products for quality and safety.
  • Ensure quality checks with proper documentation are performed and tracked for effectiveness and improvements.
  • Ensure proper record-keeping standards are met and filed correctly for reference as needed for safety and environmental compliance audits.
  • Ensure all equipment is maintained properly and operating within its design capacities.
  • Manage inventories of lumber, chemicals, and spare parts within this department to ensure proper process flow and operation.

What You Offer

  • Minimum 3 years of experience of verifiable lumber dry kiln operations experience, preferably with hog fuel boiler systems.
  • Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience.
  • Requires working knowledge of kiln mechanics; including but not limited to steam traps, coils, vents, baffles, sensors, structure, and steam delivery systems.
  • Requires working knowledge of kiln controllers.
  • Ability to develop and apply lumber drying schedules is required.
  • Experience drying southern yellow pine preferred.
  • Strong analytical abilities and working knowledge of lumber handling and kiln processes.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work effectively in a highly interactive team environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
