Maintenance/Quality Intern, Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario

You’ll work side-by-side with experienced professionals, build practical
skills, and gain exposure to the technologies shaping the wood products

This
is an on-site internship with an anticipated start date in May 2027. Ideally,
you’ll be available for a 4-8month term.

future career. We offer competitive compensation for interns, including:

  • Salaries
    starting from $3,350 per month (based on your year in
    school and previous experience).
  • Temporary
    living allowance
    for
    interns moving to the area for the role.

What You’ll Do

  • Learn how maintenance, quality control, and production teams work together to safely produce quality wood products.
  • Support equipment reliability, maintenance planning, troubleshooting, or mechanical process improvements.
  • Complete quality-control surveys and collect operational or Key Performance Indicator data across areas of the mill.
  • Analyze production, process, or equipment information and help identify opportunities to improve quality, efficiency, uptime, or cost performance.
  • Assist with documentation, reporting, benchmarks, recommendations, or site improvement projects.
  • Work with employees, crews, and site leaders while gaining experience both on the mill floor and in the office.

What You Offer

  • You are working toward a degree or diploma in Engineering, Wood Products Processing, Forestry Operations Management, Operations, or another industry-related program.You are committed to maintaining a safe work environment without compromise.
  • You are naturally curious, analytical, and interested in hands-on work in an industrial setting.
  • You can organize and interpret data, solve problems, and communicate findings clearly.
  • You collaborate effectively with employees across teams and departments.
  • You are comfortable using Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook; mechanical aptitude or manufacturing experience is an asset.
  • You are prepared to work in a mill environment that may include noise, changing temperatures, stairs, ladders, catwalks, and uneven surfaces.
