Lead Sawmill Operator, Perry, Georgia
Interfor
is seeking a motivated, growth-focused, and dependable Lead Sawmill Operator to join
our team in Perry, Georgia. The successful
candidate will be safety-conscious, reliable, committed, and eager to learn while
supporting efficient mill operations. The
pay range for this position is $23.17 –
31.52 per hour, depending on the level of experience and current machine proficiency. This is a Night Shift position.
What You’ll Do
- Support the Sawmill Supervisor and shift operations by helping coordinate daily activities and reinforcing operational priorities.
- Serve as a point of contact on the floor to help communicate expectations, support teammates, and maintain efficient workflow throughout the shift.
- Promote a strong safety culture by ensuring all employees follow established safety procedures and policies.
- Assist with planning and facilitating weekly departmental safety meetings.
- Participate in the development, review, and maintenance of Job Safety Analyses (JSAs).
- Identify equipment issues, ensure work orders are written accurately and in a timely manner, and follow up on machine repairs as needed.
- Conduct routine inspections to identify safety, quality, or operational concerns and escalate issues appropriately.
- Support the efforts of the Quality Control department, safety committee, and other mill task forces as assigned.
- Physical Requirements: Walking, Standing, Sitting, Climbing Stairs, Bending and Lifting (Up to 50 lbs.)
What You Offer
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
- 2 or more years in a sawmill environment.
- Knowledge of Southern Yellow Pine lumber manufacturing.
- Ability to use Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety and teamwork.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
