Regional Safety Manager, Peachtree City, Georgia
The Regional Safety Manager is responsible for driving consistent and effective implementation of Interfor’s safety systems across manufacturing operations within the US South region. This role provides hands-on safety leadership, ensures compliance with OSHA and applicable regulations, and works closely with site leadership to identify risk, close gaps, and support the implementation of safety standards.
As part of an organizational update, our safety, environmental, and loss prevention teams now report through the same leadership.
This role can be based within an hour drive from any of our Georgia mills.

What You’ll Do
- Drive consistent application of Interfor safety policies, standards, and programs across regional operations, working directly with site and divisional leadership teams.
- Conduct regular site visits to assess safety performance, verify compliance, and evaluate the effectiveness of controls related to lumber manufacturing activities.
- Roll out special projects, safety initiatives or training events.
- Lead and support incident investigations, including serious incidents and near-misses, ensuring thorough root cause analysis and timely, effective corrective actions.
- Identify and address high-risk exposures, with specific focus on:
- Machine and equipment guarding
- Energy isolation (lockout/tagout)
- Mobile equipment and pedestrian interface
- Wood dust, sawdust, and combustible dust hazards
- Support site teams in hazard identification, job hazard analysis, and risk assessments, and verify that controls are implemented and sustained.
- Conduct safety inspections, audits, and program reviews to ensure alignment with OSHA requirements and internal standards.
- Support injury management and return-to-work processes in partnership with HR and site resources, with emphasis on timely reporting and appropriate follow-up.
- Coordinate and support safety training requirements, including onboarding, refresher training, and regulatory training.
- Liaise and partner with sites to ensure contractor safety compliance is aligned with Interfor’s expectations.
- Maintain oversight of required safety documentation, including training records, inspections, incident reports, and OSHA reporting.
- Monitor safety performance metrics and trends, using both leading and lagging indicators to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Communicate safety expectations clearly and consistently, reinforcing leadership accountability for safe operations.
- Escalate unresolved safety concerns and systemic gaps through appropriate leadership channels and drive closure.
What You Offer
Formal education in occupational health and safety or a related field is considered an asset, however demonstrated industrial safety experience and practical application of safety systems are deemed valuable for this role.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in an industrial safety role within manufacturing, heavy industry or similar operational environment.
- Experience working in environments with mobile equipment, machinery, energy isolation and dust-related hazards is considered an asset.
- Valid US state driver’s license with the ability to travel regularly with our Southern Operations to support on-site presence and effective oversight
- Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulation and industrial safety practices.
- Experience influencing frontline leaders and management teams and confidence to challenge unsafe conditions and help to resolve.
- Organized and disciplined approach to managing multiple priorities across multiple sites.
- Adaptable to changing environments, processes, and technologies, with a continuous improvement mindset.
- Skilled in conducting thorough incident investigations, evaluating hazards, and recommending practical corrective actions aligned with OSHA regulations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating safety risks. Must have the ability to create metrics reports and identify trends.
- Clear and concise communication style, both written and verbal.
- Proficient in standard business software including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams.
