Saw Filer – Perry , GA
Interfor is seeking energetic and enthusiastic team players to
join our team as a Saw Filer in Perry, Georgia. Starting rate for this position will be based on skill level and experience.
What You’ll Do
- Repairs saw blades
(sawmill and planer mill) according to customer’s or manufacturer’s
specifications, using hand tools, machine tools, and welding equipment. - Examines saw for defects.
- Cuts broken teeth from
the saw. - Brazes or welds crack in
saw blades. - Forms teeth on saw
blades by beveling joints on grinder and welding or brazing them
together. - Straightens twists and
kinks in blades, using straightening press, and hammers out dents in
blade on metal table. - Adjusts cutting width of
teeth, using swage or special pliers. - Computes number and
angle of teeth to produce specified cut. - Clamps blade in
saw-filing machine and turns hand wheel to adjust distance between
teeth, angle of bevel, and depth of cut of file or abrasive wheel. - Starts machine that
automatically grinds and files saw teeth. - Perform preventive
maintenance on machinery. - Change saws and guides
on sharp chain and gang. - Make and grind guides.
- Shave guides for Sharp
Chain. - Grind knives for all
machines that require knives. - Adhere to all safety
regulations especially applicable to lockout/ tag-out. - Perform any other
work-related task deemed necessary by the supervisor. - Adhere to all safety
policies and perform tasks in safe, responsible manner. - Understand and adhere to
all company practices applicable to employees (such as Attendance, Call-Ins, Conduct, etc.). - Any other tasks deemed
necessary by the Leadership staff.
What You’ll Offer
- High School Diploma/Equivalent Preferred.
- Prior manufacturing/warehouse/lumber operations experience preferred.
- Able and willing to work in varying seasonal climate conditions.
- Team-oriented with a strong commitment to excellence in everything you do.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety.
- Excellent attendance record.
- Physical Requirements: Walking, standing, climbing, bending and lifting up to 50 lbs.
