Join Interfor’s dynamic Castlegar
team, where you will be responsible for ensuring our Castlegar mill meets all
safety and environmental standards. This includes safety action plans,
regulatory training and compliance, emergency preparation and response, safety
inspections, incident investigations, root cause analysis and follow-up, and
special projects.

Expected Salary Range: $85,000
– $95,000 (CAD) per year
What You’ll Do
- Implement and support safety, health,
and environmental systems by executing established processes,
procedures, and compliance programs across the site. - Lead and participate in employee
engagement initiatives such as safety committees, improvement teams,
and site-wide safety campaigns. - Coordinate and support emergency
preparedness and response activities, including drills, training, and the
development of action plans. - Conduct and oversee inspections,
investigations, and compliance monitoring, ensuring timely follow-up on
corrective actions and regulatory requirements. - Collaborate on return-to-work programs
and cross-site initiatives, maintaining effective communication with
WorkSafeBC, third-party providers, and internal stakeholders.
What You Offer
- Relevant education and certifications preferred, such as a post-secondary safety credential, CRSP, CSO, or Occupational Health and Safety Certificate/Diploma.
- Minimum 5 years of industrial experience, ideally in a leadership role, with additional training in areas like first aid, hazard recognition, fall protection, and confined space entry considered an asset.
- Strong safety and environmental commitment with a proven ability to lead and support high standards in industrial settings.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to thrive in a dynamic, team-oriented environment.
- Detail-oriented and adaptable, with strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities and proficiency in MS Office.

Castlegar
Located on the Columbia
River in Castlegar, BC, is this 102-acre site, next to the Celgar pulp mill.
Acquired in 2008 from Pope & Talbot, the Castlegar Division produces
dimensional lumber. With a low-cost log transport system on Arrow Lake and
shipping by truck and rail, Castlegar ships to markets within Canada, in the
US, and offshore.
