As a Maintenance
Superintendent at our Elk Lake sawmill, you’ll be overseeing all
the maintenance activities on site with a primary focus on ensuring all
maintenance work is completed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with health
and safety standards. You’ll also play a key role in optimizing and upgrading
equipment to improve overall operational performance.

A day in the life as a Maintenance Superintendent:
- Direct and enforce the maintenance safety program,
ensuring compliance with safety standards and maintaining comprehensive safety
records for all technicians. - Lead and supervise the maintenance team, ensuring proper
training, communication, and performance evaluations to drive a motivated,
skilled workforce. - Develop and manage a comprehensive maintenance program using
industry best practices, focusing on preventive and predictive maintenance
strategies. - Oversee environmental compliance and ensure maintenance
activities align with environmental and health regulations. - Maintain inventory and manage resources, including spare
parts, supplies, and equipment, using a CMMS to track maintenance history and
optimize workflows. - Analyze data and operations to improve performance, reduce
downtime, lower costs, and implement efficiency-enhancing projects across the
plant.
Experience and skills that will set you up for success:
- University/College Diploma in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering,
or Red Seal Certification as a Millwright or Electrician. - 3–5 years of experience in a sawmill or manufacturing
environment, including proven leadership of technical teams in a unionized
setting. - Possess strong health and safety knowledge, with
demonstrated accountability in occupational health and safety practices. - Skilled in multiple technical areas, including electrical
systems, mechanical (hydraulic/pneumatic), welding/fabrication, and PLC
programming. - Results-driven and solutions-oriented, with strong
judgment, decision-making ability, and commitment to meeting deadlines under
pressure. - Fluent in English with computer proficiency (Outlook,
Word, Excel, CMMS, EAM)
