When you join our team as a Learning & Development Specialist, you will play an integral role in the development, maintenance, and
continuous improvement of Interfor’s Talent Development processes and programs. This individual will be part of our Learning & Talent Development team, which is small and mighty; we take teamwork seriously and you can expect to collaborate.

We are looking for a self-motivated team player with a strong sense of ownership and a “get stuff done” attitude. The position will be based in the office, with the flexibility to work from home on an occasional basis.

What You’ll Do

Talent Processes:

  • Supports the preparation, system configuration, training, deployment, and ongoing management of Interfor’s talent processes, including but not limited to:
  • Career Development Plans (CDPs)
  • Hourly Talent Review
  • Salaried Talent Review
  • Salaried Onboarding
  • Development Plans
  • Succession Planning
  • Assists with data preparation and audits relating to Interfor’s talent processes.
  • Supports the research and development of new talent processes according to business needs.
  • Identifies opportunities to improve our existing talent processes.

Program Management:

  • Supports application process and ongoing maintenance of employee training & development programs.
  • Manage application process for development program intakes.
  • Track and document program applications and participation.
  • Collaborate with leadership to make recommendations and support the selection process.
  • Plan and host program info sessions and kickoff/orientation calls.
  • Assists with program logistics during development such as eLearning build, voiceover scripts & uploads, UAT edits, data preparation.
  • Track programs by assigning training, building dashboards, and reporting on completion in our Learning Management System (LMS).
  • Develop and maintain relationships with participants in development programs to track progress, collect ongoing feedback, and provide ongoing support.
  • Work with external eLearning designers to build, update, and manage changes to eLearning content.
  • Provides additional support to project teams as it relates to eLearning, UAT and program administration.

LMS Administration:

  • Maintain knowledge of the LMS to ensure the system meets organizational needs and support the maintenance and troubleshooting of the system.
  • Research new functionalities and features to support continuous improvement efforts and maximize the utilization of LMS features.
  • Works on assignments dealing with the routine and daily operation, maintenance & administration of the LMS such as email triggers, reports, auditing training records, etc.
  • Uploads courses to the LMS, reversions when needed, and builds instructor-led-training sessions as requested.

HR Systems:

  • Reviews quarterly system updates and conducts testing to ensure system configurations are working properly.
  • Corresponds with HR Systems team on system configuration and implementation to ensure necessary testing and impact analysis has been completed prior to production builds.
  • Prepares and audits talent reports in HR Systems (Cornerstone, ADP, Tableau, etc.), while ensuring data accuracy.
  • Provides troubleshooting assistance for users regarding LMS, Talent Programs, and Talent Center.
  • Prepares, updates and manages how-to guides and material for use in AppLearn.
  • Works closely with the HR Systems team as required.

Other Duties:

  • Monitor and report on trends in learning and talent development.
  • Build effective working relationships throughout the business and our multi-national HR Team.
  • Prepare and produce reports relating to L&D (e.g., quarterly Talent Data Visibility Reports, Monthly Lead X Reports, etc.).
  • Organize a wide range of duties effectively and efficiently while maintaining a high level of accuracy and quality of work with constant interruptions.
  • Self-starter with the ability to take the lead and responsibility to resolve complex issues and problems; and can work with little supervision.
  • The ability to interact and respond to multiple stakeholders and prioritize conflicting requests, while meeting tight deadlines and managing expectations.
  • Identifies opportunities for funding in both Canada and US and supports application process for funding programs.
  • Develop relationships with Interfor’s Learning & Development vendors, and L&D professionals internal and external to the company. Leverage relationships to bring emergent thinking and innovation to the company.

What You Offer

  • 2+ years related experience in learning and development, organizational development, or a related field.
  • Relevant post-secondary degree preferred.
  • Intermediate skills with MS Office Suite, with emphasis on Microsoft Excel functions (e.g., formulas, pivot tables, conditional formatting, etc.) and Teams.
  • Previous experience working with Human Resources Information Systems and data visualization software (e.g., Cornerstone OnDemand, ADP Workforce Now & Tableau) is a strong asset.
  • Effectively balance competing and changing priorities while maintaining a positive attitude.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communications skills, with strong presentation and formatting skills, you’re not afraid to speak in a room full of people (virtually or in-person).
  • Takes pride in their attention to detail, high degree of accuracy and a strong level of personal accountability.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate, work effectively and build trust with Operations and within the HR department.
  • Self-starter with the ability to take the lead and responsibility to resolve complex issues and problems; and can work with little supervision.
  • The ability to interact and respond to multiple stakeholders and prioritize conflicting requests, while meeting tight deadlines and managing expectations.
  • Strong business acumen to provide credible, professional, and value-added services to management and employees.
  • Results-oriented with the ability to take initiative to analyze situations and problems to find viable, timely solutions.
  • Impeccable attention to detail and the ability to display tact, diplomacy, and discretion in handling information of confidential and/or sensitive nature.
