When you join our team as a Silviculture Forester, you will be responsible for various portions of the silviculture program including the planning, and management of site prep, planting, stand tending, and survey activities. As this role will support our Adams Lake Woodlands team, we are open to the successful candidates residing in Kamloops, Barriere, Chase or the Shuswap.

What You’ll Do

  • Promote, lead and exhibit Interfor Safety Culture.
  • Achieve divisional and corporate environmental goals, as well as compliance with all regulatory requirements and SFI certification standards.
  • Assist in the planning, implementation, and management of the silviculture program, including some post harvest activities.
  • Provide leadership and direction to supervisory consultants and/or junior staff.
  • Manage safety, quality, environment, and production goals with contractors in the field.

What You Offer

  • Registered Professional Forester (RPF) with the ABCFP in good standing, or eligible for registration.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar capacity within the forest industry.
  • Knowledge of Forest Legislation, Regulations and Guidelines specific to Silviculture.
  • Proficiency with databases, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Experience supervising staff and/or contractors.
  • Flexible schedule, especially in the spring.
  • Proficiency with Silviculture Software including LRM, ARCView, Plant/Survey Wizard, RESULTS, ESF, SPAR, SNAP, Survey123, Mapview, will be considered an asset.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Positive attitude, dependable and ability to work effectively in a highly interactive and energetic team environment.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure and be able to prioritize multiple projects/tasks.
  • Ability to identify, reduce and manage risk, throughout all aspects of the program.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, time management and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated strong analytical, problem solving, and logical thinking skills.
  • Detail/results oriented with a focus on innovation.
