Production Manager

Production Manager, Val-d’Or, Quebec

When you join our team as a Production Manager, reporting to the Mill Manager, the selected candidate will be responsible for the overall operation and performance of the mill and
will work closely with other areas of the business to optimize the production
performance of the operation.


What You’ll Do

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Val d’Or sawmill facility including sawmill and planer departments.
  • Maintain the highest standards for safety performance, leading with an impeccable personal example and a well communicated vision.
  • Establish and maintain quality and production standards for all departments
  • Work closely with the maintenance superintendent to effectively coordinate operations
  • Work closely with log procurement staff to provide information required for purchase decisions
  • Maintain clear communication between internal staff and crew to facilitate optimum performance
  • Assist Divisional Accountant in performing required forecasting and financial analysis

What You Offer

  • Ideal candidate will have 6+ years sawmill supervisory experience with an industry-related degree or diploma preferred
  • Must be experienced in all phases of sawmill/planer operations including a solid reputation of improvement
  • Must be computer literate, including a strong background in MS Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Mechanical / electrical aptitude would be an asset
  • Strong Organizational and Leadership Skills
  • Strong analytical abilities and working knowledge of sawmill processes
  • Excellent Interpersonal and Communication Skills and ability to work effectively in a highly Interactive / Energetic Team Environment
  • Detail and results oriented
