We are currently recruiting for a Millwright
Pre-Apprentice. This is a
developmental position for those interested in pursuing a career in industrial
mechanical maintenance. In this role, you
will have the opportunity to learn about the responsibilities and duties of a
Millwright, and experience what it’s like to work on the Maintenance team at
Interfor. In addition, you’ll learn
about basic care of equipment, machine parts and supplies, and important safety
practices while you develop your mechanical maintenance skills. Pre-Apprentices are expected to meet the eligibility
requirements and apply for the next available cohort of the Interfor Millwright
Apprenticeship program within one year.
What You’ll Do
- Learn about machine and equipment maintenance, operation and lubrication from machine operators, lubrication technicians, and millwrights.
- Assists Millwrights on installation and repair jobs i.e., hot work safety, help to prepare for jobs (setup, parts, tools, and supplies), and other support as needed.
- Perform basic care and preventive maintenance such as cleaning and lubricating tools and machinery.
- Assist in kitting parts/supplies for work orders and report low inventory levels to supervisors.
- Adhere to all safety policies and standards at all times i.e., Lock Out/Tag Out, pre-work hazard assessments (PWHA), personal protective equipment (PPE), hot work, fall protection, ladder safety, housekeeping, etc.
- Report any safety related issues to management immediately.
- Support operations by filling in for operators as needed to help continue operations.
Perform other duties as assigned.
What You Offer
- Record of understanding and adherence to safety policies and standards, i.e., PPE, PWHA, Lock Out/Tag Out, Hot Work, Fall Protection, Ladder Safety, housekeeping, etc.
- Prior experience working in an industrial manufacturing environment, preferred.
- Ability to successfully complete a mechanical aptitude assessment and meet the physical requirements of the position (walking, standing, sitting, stairs, ladders, bending and lifting, up to 50 pounds).
- Detail oriented, organized, and action oriented.
- Great attendance, be willing to work as a team, and take pride in your performance.
- Basic computer skills.
- Able to work flexible schedules, i.e., weekends, varying shifts, holidays, extended hours, etc.
- Commitment to meeting eligibility requirements of the Interfor Millwright Apprenticeship program and applying for the program within one year.
- High School Diploma/GED preferred. Technical mechanical maintenance training, a plus.
- Basic math and reading skills. Ability to score 3 or higher on SC Work Keys (Applied Math, Workplace Documents, and Graphic Literacy)
