Maintenance Planner

Maintenance Planner, Chase, British Columbia

When you join our team as a Maintenance Planner, you will be responsible for coordinating the
efficient planning, scheduling, and execution of maintenance activities by applying maintenance planning best practices in a team environment.

What You’ll Do

  • Plan, schedule and coordinate Maintenance activities.
  • Effectively manage the work management system to minimize interruptions to the continuous operation of the sawmill and planer mill.
  • Maximize tradesperson efficiency and effectiveness through increased productivity and work quality.
  • Ensure that the Maintenance group provides prompt, efficient and quality-centered service to the production department.
  • Provide effective leadership through continued and frequent interaction with Maintenance tradespeople.
  • Manage, understand and work within departmental spending and budgets.
  • Use CMMS to review, plan and execute work requests through scheduled work orders.
  • Develop scope of work in coordination with the requester and inspect job location to determine job requirements.
  • Arrange for special tools, equipment, safety requirements, and kitting of parts to support efficient execution of job plans.
  • Use current industry standards or location-specific data for estimating work; develop clear and concise work steps and estimated job duration and craft requirements.
  • Develop a variety of data sets and analytical processes to monitor and improve maintenance department efficiency, identify sources of cost savings, proactively anticipate maintenance requirements before failure occurs, etc.
  • Input required purchase requisitions for labor and materials.
  • Work in coordination with the storeroom processes and personnel to ensure critical spares inventory levels and job kitting requirements are met.
  • Develop total job cost estimates.
  • Maintain liaison with field supervision and other management regarding work execution, necessity of altering schedules, and manpower status.
  • Establish tentative scheduling dates based upon job priority and material/equipment availability.
  • Assist in providing supervision of maintenance personnel and job execution as needed.
  • Issue scope of work and bid documents to contractors as required.

What You’ll Offer

  • Post-secondary education is preferred.
  • Journeyman level millwright or equivalent is considered an asset.
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience in an industrial setting, maintenance planning/coordination is preferred
  • Knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems, preferably Infor EAM.
  • Working knowledge of effective preventative/predictive maintenance methodologies and processes
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Professional designations such as Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional (CMRP) or Maintenance Management Professional (MMP) are considered an asset.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills.
  • Strong business focus.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work effectively in a highly interactive team environment.
  • Detail/results oriented.
  • Ability to function under pressure.
  • Ability to plan, organize and prioritize numerous tasks with conflicting deadlines.
