Filing Supervisor

Filing Supervisor, Summerville, South Carolina

When you join our team as a Filing Supervisor, you will be responsible for all saw and knife filing/grinding activities, maintenance
and repair of sawfiling equipment, training, and supervision of sawfilers at
the mill.

What
You’ll Do

  • A strong commitment to working safely with the ability to follow and promote site safety policies and procedures.
  • Establish and oversee the quality standards for band saws, round saws, saw guides and knife grinding.
  • Provide machine center alignment support.
  • Assist production personnel with any sawing flow related problems.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot and repair primary and secondary breakdown machine centers with regards to sawing issues.
  • Provide guidance and verification with setting min/max levels to maintain an appropriate inventory of saws and knives.
  • Assist with planning and budgeting of filing room costs.
  • Ensure filing room equipment and related machinery are properly maintained and provide accurate results.
  • Oversee operation and supervision of filing room and saw filing staff.
  • Assist production personnel with any sawing flow related problems.
  • Keeping both yourself and your staff informed of any new technology and industry changes.

What
You Offer

  • Minimum 5 years of progressive saw filing experience.
  • Previous experience as a supervisor or lead hand.
  • Completion of Grade 12 is mandatory
    and a trade certificate is a plus.
  • Knowledge and experience in
    manufacturing operations.
  • Able to maintain job safety, quality and efficiency.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work effectively in a highly interactive / energetic team environment.
  • Able to read, understand and translate blueprints into fabricated parts.
  • Knowledge of power transmission machinery/parts including gear boxes, chains and bearings.
  • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
  • Ability to function well under pressure.
