Meeting Special-Length Stud Lumber Demand in Multi-Story Construction

Bart Bender, Senior Vice President, Sales & Marketing
March 31, 2016

If you are involved in a multi-story wood-frame project that calls for non-standard length studs, Interfor is ready to meet your needs with odd-length precision end trim (PET).

There’s more demand for these non-standard length studs as building codes across North America allow taller wood buildings. These multi-family and non-residential buildings are built from the top down, and by using odd-length stud lumber builders and architects can capitalize on the maximum height allowed.

Our stud mills in Port Angeles and Longview, Washington, and Molalla, Oregon, have the capacity to cut studs to the specific lengths for any large-scale building construction. This saves time and money because the builder does not have to go to a remanufacturer to have the stud cut to size.

The photo to the right shows the Holiday Inn Express in Bellingham, WA. We worked with our customer to manufacture odd-length PET studs for the hotel.

If you want to know more about Interfor’s odd-length PET studs, a good place to start is by contacting a member of our Western Dimension Sales & Marketing Team via email at whitewoodsales [at] interfor.com (email) or at (360) 788-2200.

Agreement Reached in the Great Bear Rainforest

Bart Bender, Senior Vice President, Sales & Marketing
February 1, 2016

Today marks an important milestone for our Company – the announcement of the Great Bear Rainforest Agreement by the Government of British Columbia and First Nations.

Located on BC’s central and north coasts, the area is home to communities and wildlife and is an important source of coastal forest products that are enjoyed by our customers around the globe.

Interfor is a founding member of a unique partnership involving forest companies and international environmental organizations. For 15 years, we worked together to develop the recommendations that would conserve forests while at the same time ensure sustainable logging could continue.

What was achieved in the Great Bear Rainforest is historic; the collaboration that drove the solutions is unprecedented. Interfor is proud to have been part of this achievement.

I encourage you to watch the one minute video with our partners: Government, First Nations and environmental groups.

Standing Behind Quality and Service

Bart Bender, Senior Vice President, Sales & Marketing
May 4, 2015

Interfor has a tremendous reputation in the marketplace as a professional, well-respected forest products company with a diverse, high-quality product mix and exemplary customer service.

That’s what drew me to the Company. Since becoming Senior Vice President of Sales & Marketing earlier this month, I’ve met individuals at every level who stand behind this reputation. They share a passion and commitment for the Core Values and Promises that support our day-to-day activities. I’ve met customers who know they can depend on Interfor to deliver quality products “on spec, on time, every time”.

I joined Interfor at an exciting time, shortly after we had acquired the Simpson Lumber sawmills. We will continue to align the work of the sales & marketing team with all of our operations to build value for customers around the world.

I look forward to meeting with more customers to explore ways we can serve them better, and to sharing information about our Company and industry through this space.

Grade Stamps Identify Interfor SYP Lumber

Steven Hofer, Senior Vice President, Sales & Marketing
March 31, 2015

We’ve just made it a lot easier for customers to identify our quality Southern Yellow Pine structural lumber from our eight US Southeast sawmills.

Effective immediately, Timber Products Inspection and the Southern Pine Inspection Bureau will add Interfor sawmill identifiers to grade stamps. When you see “IF” and a number on a piece of lumber, you’ll know it comes from one of our Southeast mills and is backed by our customer promise to deliver quality products "on spec, on time, every time".

The mill identifiers are: Baxley, GA (IF01); Eatonton, GA (IF02); Swainsboro, GA (IF03); Thomaston, GA (IF04); Perry, GA (IF05); Preston, GA (IF06); Georgetown, SC (IF07) and Meldrim, GA (IF08).
